From Jordan Vineyard and Winery with John Jordan, founded in 1972…the legend continues!
Founders Tom and Sally Jordan were maverick pioneers with a unique vision. They wanted to be the first to create a Bordeaux-style California Cabernet Sauvignon that was approachable while young yet aged gracefully. Located in Sonoma’s Alexander Valley, the home for their wine would be an extraordinary chateau combining winemaking facilities, guest suites, and kitchen and dining areas under one roof. The couple set a standard for American wine quality and wine country hospitality—a top standard that is still held at Jordan today.
Under the guidance of second-generation vintner John Jordan and Rob Davis, the winemaker whose hands have crafted every vintage of Jordan since the inaugural 1976, Jordan Vineyard & Winery continues to innovate and elevate through award-winning wines and hospitality. From advancements in fruit sourcing, oak aging, precision farming and conserving natural resources to diversifying agriculture and creating new visitor experiences at the Healdsburg winery, Jordan maintains a relentless quest to improve with every vintage.
Then it’s all about a FUN trip put together by the WSU Non-Credit staff…it’s a bus trip to Paola Kansas on I get to lead this excursion to Paola that starts at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday July 11, 2015 from the Hughes Metroplex. We’ll take a scenic bus ride to Paola and have a great meal at The BBQ Shack (Featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives) with my good friend and pit master Rick Schoenberger. We leave the restaurant for the short ride to the town square and the fun continues with great local art, live music and some fine wines from Kansas. Then it’s back on the bus for the ride back to campus.

Good Life Guy’s Wine of the Week:
2011 Jordan Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Delicate aromas of fresh cranberry and red cherry mingle with enticing notes of cassis, chocolate and tobacco. The wine is round, soft and refined with elegant flavors of red currant, freshly cut herbs, vanilla bean and allspice. Predominantly French oak aging lends structure to the mid-palate with soft tannins and an inviting mouthfeel, balanced by a backbone of clean acidity. This wine’s enduring finish makes it perfectly suited to enjoy today or cellar worthy through 2022-2027. Decant for 30 minutes prior to serving to further enhance aromas and flavors.
