We’ll start with the Live Farmers’s Market update from the Plaza in Old Town, 7:00am-Noon Rain or Shine – Great family entertainment, local produce and crafts.
Then it’s all about Grilling with Beer, a book by my guest Lucy Saunders. Wheather you drink one while grilling, use one in the marinade or sauce, or enjoy a few with the finished product, grilling and beer go together. This book has recipes for bastes, BBQ suaces, mops, marinades & more, all made with craft beer.
Lucy edits the award-winning website, beercook.com and thinks of beer as food. We first met at the Great American Beer Festival in 2007 and shortly after she was a guest with one of her other books; Cooking With Beer.

Then it’s KC Masters BBQ competition info live from the event going on this Saturday June 13 at Old Cow Town. I will be chatting with Greg “Hitman” Williams from sister station Power 93.9. Even the our Mayor, Carl Brewer is competing in this years event. Fun for all, head to Old Cow Town after the show!
“Wine of the Week” from from Napa producer John Buehler; 2007 Napa Zinfandel 🙂
The grapes we choose for our 2006 Buehler Vineyards Napa Valley Zinfandel are a mix of those off our estate vineyards and grapes from other select Napa Valley high quality, low-yielding vineyards. Dry-farmed for over a decade, our 4.5 acre estate block consists of mature thirty-six year old vines which typically give us around 3.0 tons/acre of beautiful hillside zinfandel fruit. Interspersed among the head-trained vines are a handful of Petite Sirah vines representing perhaps 5% of the total vines in this block. A traditional field companion to Zinfandel in pre-prohibition California vineyards, Petite Sirah contributes pepper, color, and tannin structure to the wine.
“90 POINTS” – WINE SPECTATOR
