First up this Saturday is my Girl Friend Denise Neil from the Wichita Eagle.  Denise does a great job of covering the food scene here in the flat lands and we will be discussing some of the latest openings and closings of restaurants and more importantly the recently release “Top 20 Restaurants in Kansas.”  You’ll be surprised who made the list and who didn’t.  Follow Denise on Twitter and Facebook and bookmark Dinning with Denise at Kansas.com.

Then I tell you all about a FUN open house reception and shopping event going on at the new location of Nectar Republic.  The new location is 3963 N. Woodlawn Ct. Ste.#1. My good friend Lisa Laufer makes some of the crafty stuff!  Lisa says “Nectar Republic is a small family-owned aromatherapy brand founded in Kansas. We handcraft soap, bath goods and fragrant candles.”

Please join us this Saturday, June 30th, as we celebrate the opening of our new creative space in Wichita, KS. With much gratitude, we would love to share our craft with you all. This is a come and go event from noon to 8pm. Invite friends and family, the more the merrier!  Follow Nectar Republic on Twitter

Good Life Guy’s Wine of the Week:
Something FUN that goes with FISH 🙂
2017 Domaine des Côtes Blanches, AOC Sancerre, Loire Valley France
100% Sauvignon Blanc fermented in Stainless, no oak, no ML.  Exotic fruits like gooseberry, pomelo and guava ooze from the glass. The beautiful minerality and juicy, mouthwatering acidity help elevate this rich and focused Sauvignon Blanc.  This succulent white wine would pair beautifully with some smoked trout or grilled white meat fish with a spritz of lemon or lime.

Here’s a classic family-owned French wine estate. Domaine des Côtes Blanches was founded in the 1930s by Bernard & Pierre Millet. Fast-forward to 1980 and François & Monique, the next generation, expand the estate to 21 hectares, split between Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir (15 to 6 Ha).

Most recently, Nicolas, their son, has joined the family wine business. His studies at Beaune have brought a fresh perspective to this excellent Loire estate. It’s farmed organically, and in the winery gravity flow reigns (not pumps) to minimise the wines’ handling.

90 points Wine Spectator
A tangy, herb-infused version, with lots of thyme and chive notes and hints of asparagus and fleur de sel. Offers a brisk, bony finish. (JM)
