Good Life Guy’s Wine of the Week:
2020 Benziger Sauvignon Blanc
Fresh and elegant, this Sauvignon Blanc invites you in with aromas of bright lemon, fresh grass, grapefruit and melon. Enticing citrus flavors are followed by complex minerality. The wine’s acid is both balanced and integrated, giving it a textured mid-palate and an elegant softness. WE90

Oct 22 – my guest is John Pulos with his book “Looking at Wine Through a Different Window”

John Pulos is a wine educator and tasting room legend at Wagner Vineyards in the New York Finger Lakes. His book is really two books in one.  An overview of Wagner Vineyards, the history, wines produced and education about the Finger Lakes in general.  Then there is an extensive section called the “Wine Cookbook – Recipes and Recommended Wines.”

This is a book about wine, written in a style that is witty, quirky and full of fascinating information, from the DNA and migration of grapes as land was conquered—or people were “saved”—to the flavor of that first taste from your glass. The author performs popular “tastings” at Wagner Vineyards in the Finger Lakes Region of Central New York.  The book is packed with vitally helpful and fascinating information and is an excellent and inspiring way to learn for oneself what to understand about different wines that inclines us to try them, to prefer them, and to enjoy them in future. Golden straw color. Aromas of mandarin orange, stargazer lily, and candied lime with a medium-to-full body and a medium-to-long apricot jam, tart apple, lime zest, and oyster shell finish with no oak flavor. A Riesling with pleasant fruit concentration and a lasting finish. JS93
