Last but not least…
August 2021 marks the 30th Anniversary of The Good Life on KNSS!
It all started in Miami Florida in June of 1988 on WKAT 1360.  My brother and I did the show for two years until a move to Kansas and the Kansas Air Guard brought me to Wichita.  While my brother Brian continued the show for a couple more years, I worked to get settled here in Wichita.  It was in August of 1991 that I started The Good Life on KNSS 1240 up on 37th Street North at Clear Channel.  Several years ago in a channel swap 1240 became an Entercom (no Audacy) property and I moved with it.  Then the swap of 1240 to 1330 happened and here we are.

Brian and I will reminisce about the beginnings and enjoy The Good Life with the Wine of the Week 🙂

Good Life Guy’s 30th Anniversary Wine of the WeeK:
NV Roederer Estate Brut – Anderson Valley Sparkling Wine
Roederer Estate Brut, the first California sparkling wine produced by Champagne Louis Roederer, builds upon a 200-year tradition of fine winemaking that has made Roederer champagne among the most sought-after in the world.  Roederer’s winemaking style is based on two elements: ownership of its own vineyards and the addition of oak-aged reserve wines to each year’s blend or cuvee. All the grapes for the Anderson Valley wines are grown on the Estate.  Each year, the winemaker selects a portion of the best wines for aging in Center of France oak casks. Aged from one to three years, wines from this reserve cellar are added to the blend, creating a multi-vintage cuvee in the traditional Roederer style, known for its body, finesse and depth of flavor.  The Roederer Estate Brut debuted in October 1988, and has since established its reputation as one of California’s premier sparklers, remaining true to the heritage of excellence and style of its French forebears.

The current release of the NV Estate Brut is made up mainly of fruit from the 2015 vintage. It is a blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir and was made with about ten grams per liter dosage. Disgorged in October of 2018, it has a fresh, open nose with pure fruit expression: crushed apples, pears and lemon peel mingle with touches of stone, flowers and toast. The medium-bodied palate offers a lovely dichotomy of toasty fruits with uplifted citrusy, minerally accents with a finely beaded mousse, and it finishes long and ultra fresh.
