up was New Zealand author Julie Biuso who was visiting the states to
promote her new book "Sizzle - Sensational Barbecue Food"
Sizzle, subtitled Sensational Barbecue
Food from New Zealand, has been simmering for some time. Julie said that
she's wanted to write a barbecue book for several years, and now the
timing is right because we are now cooking the whole meal on the
barbecue, not just the meat. In Sizzle she has wisely made allowances
for the vagaries of our weather, as there are a lot of instructions for
cooking Sizzle's recipes in the kitchen in case the weather is
inclement. Asked whether the appealing photographs were manipulated to
make the food look better, she said they were not, as she liked them to
be caught naturally by the camera. She doesn't like to tweak the photos
to keep them real so people reading the book can achieve the same
result.
