In the first half I’ll be telling you all about the Top 10 Best Food Cities for 2015 as voted by www.livability.com

Foodie culture continues to marinate in U.S. cities, along with its various cousins the farm-to-table and craft-beer movements. Many cities are encouraging restaurant districts and boutique eating, and reaping the benefits. With this in mind, Livability.com has named the Top 10 Best Foodie Cities, 2015. These cities strongly support local farmers, showcase regional cuisine, and provide residents with an innovative and eclectic mix of restaurants and delicious food to eat.

Then it’s all about the 13th Annual Pinot Noir Summit brought to you by Barbara and John Drady, founders of Affairs of the Vine. www.affairsofthevine.com

In the second half I’ll be speaking to Ted Plemons, Co-owner/partner of Cass Vineyard & Winery located in Paso Robles.

cass_logo_wArtCass Vineyard and Winery is located in the rolling, oak-studded hills between Paso Robles and Creston on California’s beautiful Central Coast. This area that the vineyard calls home offers quiet serenity for the visitor and an ideal growing environment for wine grapes.

Sited due east of the “Templeton Gap”, the vineyards receive the evening’s cooling breezes that the west side of Paso Robles is noted for. The vineyards rest far enough from the coast to generate the heat needed to optimally ripen the Rhone varieties grown on the 145 acre estate.

Cass wines were some of my top picks while in Paso last May attending a media event.  The Cass 2014 Viognier was my top white wine tasted that week.  I must have good taste…this wine recently received Double Gold and “BEST Viognier” at the San Francisco International Wine Competition. We’ll tell you all about the winery, vineyards and wines produced.

While Cass wines are not yet available here in Kansas (hopefully coming soon to a wine store near you!) you can order on line at www.casswines.com

Good Life Guy’s Wine of the Week:
2014 Cass Viognier
2014-Viognier-webCold fermented in stainless steel tanks to retain Viognier’s true varietal character, the 2014 vintage showcases perfumed aromatic of ripe plantain, Anju pear, white peach, and crushed acacia flower.  Essence of honeysuckle blossom offers a prelude to lush palate centered around flavors of dried gala apple, ripe apricot, and Meyer lemon marmalade.  A lingering finish features spiced pineapple and fresh pomelo zest highlighted by nuances reminiscent of iced limeade.
