My guest this week is New York Times best-selling author Lorraine Wallace, wife of Fox Sunday News anchor Chris Wallace.  She’s been pretty busy since being on the show with Mr. Sunday’s Soup back in 2010.  I missed seeing her next book “Mr. Sunday’s Saturday Night Chicken” but she joins us today with her latest book “Mr. & Mrs. Sunday’s Suppers.”

Lorraine Wallace, wife of Fox Sunday News anchor Chris Wallace, writes her third cookbook, following Mr. Sunday’s Soups and Mr. Sunday’s Saturday Night Chicken, both New York Times bestsellers. An expert on making meals for the family, Lorraine presents recipes that are sure to bring everyone together on any occasion, from weeknight meals to holidays to game day. This cookbook includes heartwarming favorites like Beef Stew with Winter Root Vegetables and Mom’s Chicken and Rice Casserole as well as reinvented classics like Lobster Pot Pie and Chicken Cordon Bleu Pinwheels. She also includes delicious vegetarian and gluten-free options. As her first hardcover, Mr. and Mrs. Sunday’s Suppers is a keepsake her fans and family will treasure.

With food and family as her guide, my friend Lorraine brings her generous spirit to the table in this book. Her recipes are fun and flavorful and will make you want to cook from the heart, just like she does.

Lorraine Wallace

Lorraine Wallace had two great passions growing up–riding horses and cooking. She became an expert in both. Moving to Middleburg, Virginia in the 1980s, she became a competitor on the amateur showjumping circuit and won awards on her horse, Strait Man. At the same time, she started her own extensive garden–growing vegetables, herbs, and flowers. She developed an appreciation for organic ingredients and a deep love for cooking.

Ashley Ruckman joins us in the second half to talk about the 5th Annual “Palette to Palate – A Wine & Art Experience“, a FUN raiser for KETCH.  This is one of the best food & wine events in Wichita.

This year’s event will feature a four course dinner prepared by Chef Peter Moretti at the Wichita Marriott. The night will also include an exclusive VIP Pre-Party, the ultimate wine tasting experience in Wichita featuring some of the most prestigious wines you’ll ever have the chance to savor. Drew Hendricks of Rudd Winery will be the Master Sommelier for the evening.  He’ll discuss the wine pairings for each course.

Palette to Palate is an evening of perfect pairings to benefit KETCH and the nearly 500 adults with developmental disabilities in our vocational training, residential supports, and adult day services. Join us for this divine sensory experience all while supporting adults with disabilities in their mission to aspire higher!

Good Life Guy’s Wine of the Week:
2013 Ladera Sagrada Castelo do Papa Godello

The 2013 Papa (100% organically grown Godello) was aged totally in stainless steel and saw no malolactic. It possesses the texture of a classy white Burgundy, as well as lots of honeyed citrus, spring flower, quince and apricot characteristics. Medium-bodied with impressive texture, depth and richness, its finish is fresh, vibrant and exuberant. This beauty is best consumed in its first several years of life. ABV13%  IWC90

I served this wine at one of our Charity Auction Tapas Dinners and it really showed well.  Much different than the 2012 I last tasted, bringing not only rich fruit with a hint of sweet aromatics but nearly the heft and mouth feel of Chardonnay.  This wine is a beauty!

Pick up a bottle at Jacob Liqour Exchange on North Rock Road here in Wichita and join us 🙂
