In the second half I’ll be chatting with “The Mistress of Bourbon” Ms. Hollis Bulleit.  She was in town recently and I had the pleasure of tasting and talking Bulleit Bourbon and the fun to be had with one of the finest American Whiskeys available.

Ms. Hollis & GoodLifeGuy

Miss Hollis is a trailblazer in the brown spirits industry; she is the first woman from a bourbon family to represent the brand on a national and global level. She is also one of the first female experts in her field, and has created an innovative teaching method on how to conceptulize the Kentucky bourbon portfolio using her “whiskey matrix”. She has a profound respect for the time it takes to make a quality spirit and believes that it should always be imbibed responsibly.

Hollis is one of the few people in this industry position who has worked at a distillery and has an all-encompassing Master of Whiskey training.

Good Life Guy’s Wine of the Week:
2012 Decoy Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot Cooperage Barrel Aging: 12 Months in 100% French Oak, 35% New.
The 2012 vintage has yielded a lush and appealing expression of Decoy Cabernet with alluring black cherry and raspberry jam aromas, as well as more subtle notes of nutmeg, spice and chocolate. On the palate, lovely layers of raspberry and plum are supported by excellent structure and seamlessly integrated oak.
